The value of Roof and guttering cleaning

Roofs are often put in the "out of sight - out of mind" category. The problem with this approach is that unless you know the state of your roof, you won't know if and when a problem is going to occur. As damaged roof's can potentially affect fundamental health of the whole house, it makes more sense to take preventative measures rather than wait for a possible roofing disaster to hit.

If a roof is regularly maintained, then the chances of roof leaks, structural damage or infestation (in some cases) is less likely. Homeowners can have that peace of mind that their roofs will be able to withstand the conditions when the weather becomes particularly hazardous.

One of the most important areas to regularly check is that there are no potential obstacles to the drainage system. Leaves, branches, dust and debris can wreck havoc with both the roofs and the gutters. If left to pile up then water will start pooling and this becomes a problem. When the flow of water down from the roof to the gutters is blocked, water has nowhere to go except either back up to the roof - leading either to a potential leak or it will overflow the roof and gutters, putting a lot of pressure on the foundation. Cracks can appear and cause structural damage is the force of water is great enough.

If your roof is at least 10-15 years old, servicing it at least once a year is highly recommended. Not only will it enhance the appearance of your home, regular maintenance will ensure that your roof will last another 10-15 years before it required roof repairs or replacement.
